PANDIMONIUM® PAN CUT

PANDIMONIUM® PAN CUT is a monocrystalline diamond compound designed for cutting gemstones on a BATT™ lap.

PAN CUT provides a rechargeable cutting system for cutters who want to use a diamond-charged BATT™ rather than a conventional plated diamond cutting lap. As the cutting action decreases with use, additional PAN CUT can be applied to recharge the lap.

A BATT™ used with PAN CUT must be dedicated to a single diamond grit. Diamond becomes embedded in the metal surface during charging and use, so changing a charged lap from a coarser grit to a finer grit can cause contamination from the previously embedded diamond.

PAN CUT can be used with either oil-based or water-based lubrication systems. For PAN CUT, we recommend Snake Oil™ as the preferred extender. When a water-based lubricant is preferred, Snake Fluid™ may also be used. Other suitable oil or water-based extenders may also be used.

At this time, BATT™ is the recommended lap for PAN CUT. As cutters gain more experience with rechargeable diamond cutting systems, additional recommendations may be added.

• 325 — Aggressive / Coarse Cutting
• 600 — General Cutting
• 1200 — Fine Cutting

Using PAN CUT

Charge the BATT™ with PAN CUT following the recommended BATT™ charging procedure. As cutting performance decreases, additional PAN CUT can be applied to recharge the lap.

Dedicate one BATT™ to each PAN CUT grit being used. Do not change a charged BATT™ from a coarser diamond grit to a finer grit.

The recommendations above are starting points. Different gemstones and cutting techniques may respond particularly well to different combinations of grit, lubrication, speed and pressure, and experimentation is encouraged.
